Chocolate Almond Cake? still not checked on my list. Sorry. Got 1 email, jobhunt stuff it is. So then, I watched a movie, nothing new, I know(See subject). Just to tell you, basically it's about a young boy named James who dreamed of going to New York and with the help of a man and these magical worms, was able to escaped from his abusive aunties by riding inside a giant peach and sail the ocean along with his friends, the spider, the ladybug, the earthworm, the centipede, the glowing worm and the grasshopper. As expected, it's a happy ending, reaching New York City, her aunties captured by the authority and the boy and his little friends(not really, cause they were life-size) became family. I'm sounding like a kid now haha! This 1996 film I remembered during my childhood was one of the movies by Tim Burton that I like. (All the movies he directed are great!).
I decided to search for another old movie(not really old, but the look and feel is, and not a silent movie), which the teaser interest me and I stumbled upon this movie entitled "The Whisperer in Darkness" 2011 directed by Sean Branney, but is in black and white color because the setting is in 1920s, Germany. As random as I my thoughts are, looking around youtube, I learned about the author of the book of which the movie is based upon. Author's name is H.P. Lovecraft and whose most popular work is "The Call of Cthulhu" which also have a big screen adaptation directed as well by Sean Branney. Lovecraft died at 46 years old only and who was the one who started the Cosmic Horror genre who influenced how movies/tv series of todays became what they are now, like True Detective Season 1, The Mist , Cabin in the woods and The Thing. I cannot explain well, but it interests me (lately) watching old movies from the 80s and 90s, but this movie in black and white which is not from 80s or 90s but was in a 20s feel, captured me and makes my eyes stick on the screen. As of writing I'm still in the middle of watching it and I will update you on my next post once I'm done with it. I also plan to watch a Drama/Mystery 1971 film, A Clockwork Orange directed by Stanley Kubrick(guess I will be looking for movies based on the Directors).
Just to add while looking for movies to watch I happened to see this youtube channel named SpookyRice who summarizes these movies, which they call "disturbing" in around 15 minutes. I've already watched a few breakdowns, "Benny's Video", "The Girl Next Door" and a really disturbing one, a japanese film called "Visitor Q"(try watching it haha)!
Heads up, I think my incoming posts will be all about movies.. old movies... and trying to bake that chocolate cake. Haha!
